Waberthwaite based Ruth Sutton wrote her first novel after she was 60, gave up trying to find an agent and decided to self-publish. She began with her Cumbria trilogy ‘Between the Mountains and the Sea’. In November 2015, her first crime novel ‘Cruel Tide’ appeared, and soon after readers started clamouring for the sequel, ‘Fatal Reckoning’ which Ruth published a year later.
